Pinnacles National Park

There are 59 protected areas in the United States known as National Parks.  Pinnacles is the 59th National Park.  It is located about 3 hours south of San Francisco, in central California.  All the creeks were dry, but you could walk through them, imagining the sound of water rushing by, instead of feeling the dusty wind on your face.  Pinnacles has two caves that were fun, one of which required a head lamp, and the other as the Park Ranger said, you can use an app flashlight on your phone because the cave has ambient light.

I looked up all the national parks, and I have only been to about 35% of them.  I’m thinking about making a trip to South Dakota to see some more caves.  The Wind Cave is one of the world’s densest cave systems.  Near, the Wind Cave, is Mt. Rushmore and Badlands National Park.  I’m not sure yet how to get to South Dakota, but it is now on my to do list.

  1. South Dakota is great. When you go please make sure you go to Custer State Park. Great wildlife, just like Yellowstone, perhaps even better because there will not be as many people driving around.
